DaVinci Resolve
Professional editing, color, VFX, and audio in one free app.

Best for
Video editors and colorists who want studio-grade tools without a subscription.
Why it deserves attention
DaVinci Resolve combines a cut and edit page, the industry-standard color page, Fusion for motion graphics and compositing, and Fairlight for audio post in one application. The free version already covers multi-track editing, HDR grading, and node-based effects for most projects; Studio, a one-time purchase, adds AI tools such as magic mask and voice isolation, stereoscopic 3D, and some GPU and format support. It runs on macOS, Windows, and Linux. The trade-off is a steep learning curve and hardware demands: large timelines and 4K or higher footage need a strong GPU and plenty of RAM.
