Safari
Apple's WebKit browser: the most power-efficient option on a Mac, with strong tracking protection.

Best for
Mac and iPhone users who care about battery life, privacy and smooth scrolling more than extensions.
Why it deserves attention
Safari uses WebKit and Apple's own rendering pipeline, which gives it a measurable battery and memory advantage on laptops — the main reason many Mac users keep it as the default. It blocks cross-site trackers by default, hides IP addresses from known trackers, offers profiles for separating work and personal browsing, tab groups that sync across devices, reader mode, a clean reader-style PDF view, and passkeys plus iCloud Keychain integration. It is free and preinstalled on macOS, iOS and iPadOS. The caveats: its extension catalogue is far smaller than Chrome's, some web apps still target Chromium quirks, and the newest AI tab features are rolling out with OS updates rather than standalone releases.
