KeePassXC
A free, offline password manager built on the open KDBX format.

Best for
People who want full ownership of their password database and do not trust a subscription vault in the cloud.
Why it deserves attention
KeePassXC stores passwords in a local KDBX database protected by a master password and optional key file or hardware key, with TOTP, Auto-Type, browser integration, passkeys, and a password generator built in. It runs on macOS, Windows, and Linux, supports YubiKey challenge-response, and can merge databases across devices. It is GPL-licensed with about 30,000 GitHub stars. Because it does not run a cloud service, syncing is up to you and works best through a file-sync tool such as Syncthing, iCloud, or a Git repository; the interface is also more utilitarian than commercial password apps.
