ReplicaUnderrated
GitHub's open-source AI prototyping tool that builds with your own design system.

Best for
Product teams that want AI-generated prototypes to follow their real components and guidance instead of a generic component kit.
Why it deserves attention
Replica, released by GitHub Design under the MIT license, lets designers encode their components, patterns, and documentation as guidance, then lets anyone on the team describe a screen in natural language inside the GitHub Copilot app and refine the running prototype beside the conversation. It runs locally without a server, and an optional self-hosted Replica Hub adds publishing and comments for review. It works on macOS and Linux with Git and Node, and the canvas requires the Copilot app and GitHub sign-in, using GitHub-hosted models or your own provider. It is early and small: the workflow is tied to Copilot, the hosted Hub needs DNS, HTTPS, and server setup, and output is a prototype rather than production code.
