Best for

People who save videos, audio, and whole channels from the web and want a fast native app instead of a pile of scripts.

Why it deserves attention

Downbit turns a link into a preview with title, thumbnail, and available qualities, then downloads with multi-connection segments and resumes after pause or quit. It handles HLS and DASH, merges separate video and audio tracks into standard MP4 with metadata and cover art, supports playlists, channel subscriptions, live recording, and trimming without re-encoding. A built-in browser catches media from pages that do not expose a direct link, and the same binary doubles as a CLI with JSON output and an MCP server for agents. The free tier covers the core workflow; Pro is a one-time $19 for more formats, the command line, and 3 computers. It is closed source, and sites change often, so occasional breakage is possible.
