BBEditUnderrated
The Mac-native text editor that opens a multi-gigabyte log, greps it and doesn't blink.

Best for
Mac users who edit huge files, lean on regex search across folders, and work with remote servers.
Why it deserves attention
BBEdit has been the professional Mac text editor since 1992 and is still the fastest way to open a log or CSV that would choke an Electron editor. Its multi-file grep is legendary, the Pattern Playground teaches and tests regex live, and it opens and saves over FTP/SFTP, integrates with Git and Subversion, supports AppleScript and Unix scripting, code folding, text completion and solid HTML tools. It runs natively on Apple silicon, and after a 30-day full trial it keeps working in Free Mode without nag screens. The caveats: macOS only, no AI completion or built-in terminal, an interface that feels more 2010 than 2026, and the advanced features need a paid license or Mac App Store subscription.
