Best for

Apple Reminders users who want to capture and complete tasks without switching apps.

Why it deserves attention

Barrie does not replace Reminders: everything it shows and adds is a real Apple reminder, in your existing lists and synced across devices. The menu bar shows overdue and due-today counts, and a hotkey opens a panel that parses natural-language dates, places, priority, and list names into preview chips before anything is created. Space completes a task, Enter edits in place, Command-Delete deletes, and selected text can be sent from any app. It also supports location reminders with Apple Maps geofences and never steals keyboard focus. The app is free for two days, then €7.50 once, requires macOS 14 or later, and is made by independent developer Davey Heuser. The trade-off is that it depends entirely on Apple Reminders and iCloud, and a free open-source Reminders Menu Bar already covers the basics.
