Best for

Users who want the fastest possible terminal and configure everything in one YAML file.

Why it deserves attention

Alacritty renders with OpenGL and deliberately omits tabs, splits, and GUI settings; you pair it with tmux or a window manager and edit one YAML file. That minimalism makes it fast to start and easy to script, and it runs on macOS, Linux, and Windows. It is Apache-2.0 with 66,000 GitHub stars and steady releases. If you want built-in tabs, images, or AI, Kitty, Ghostty, or Warp are better fits.
