ZettlrUnderrated

Best for

Researchers and students who write papers in Markdown and cite with Zotero.

Why it deserves attention

Zettlr combines a Markdown editor with citation keys from Zotero or Better BibTeX, a file-based workspace, focus modes, and Pandoc export to PDF, Word, and LaTeX. It is designed for long-form academic writing rather than block-based notes. The workflow assumes some familiarity with Pandoc and citation tooling, and real-time collaboration is not its strength.
