SilverBulletUnderrated
A self-hosted note app where every page is a plain markdown file and queries run live in the page.

Best for
Markdown purists who want a fast wiki with live queries but refuse to lock notes into a proprietary database.
Why it deserves attention
SilverBullet stores each page as a markdown file in a folder you control, then adds superpowers on top: wiki-style links, live queries over page metadata and tasks, slash-command editing, Lua scripting, plug-ins and a mobile-friendly PWA. It runs as a single small server binary or Docker container with a web editor, so notes are readable by any markdown tool and editable from a phone browser. It is MIT-licensed and free. The trade-off: it is on the technical side — plugs and queries assume you can write a little Lua or YAML — and there are no native desktop or mobile apps, just the browser.
