## Best for

People with a large music collection who want a private streaming setup that works with existing Subsonic apps.

## Why it deserves attention

Navidrome scans your music folder, reads tags and cover art, and serves the library through a web player and the Subsonic/OpenSubsonic API, so dozens of existing mobile and desktop clients work out of the box. It supports multiple users, playlists, favorites, on-the-fly transcoding, smart playlists, and automatic rescans when files change. It is GPL-3.0 and free, runs from a single binary or Docker, and is light enough for a Raspberry Pi. The trade-off is that you manage the files and the server, and there is no streaming catalog: you only get what you own.
