## Best for

People who want one desktop downloader for direct links, torrents, and large files instead of a browser plus a separate client.

## Why it deserves attention

Motrix puts an aria2-based download engine behind a simple cross-platform interface, covering HTTP, FTP, BitTorrent, and magnet links, with task queues, speed limits, proxy settings, notifications, and a dark theme. It is MIT-licensed, has about 58,000 GitHub stars, and keeps shipping releases on macOS, Windows, and Linux. The trade-off is that its simplified UI hides some of aria2's advanced options, and complex torrent management is better served by a dedicated client such as qBittorrent; the project also relies on community maintenance, so new protocol support arrives slowly.
