LightpandaUnderrated
A headless browser written from scratch for AI agents, 16x lighter than Chromium.

Best for
Teams running crawlers, scrapers, or browser agents who are tired of paying Chromium's memory and startup cost per page.
Why it deserves attention
Lightpanda is a new headless browser written in Zig rather than a Chromium or WebKit fork. Its benchmark over 933 real pages reports 123 MB peak memory for 100 pages against 2 GB for headless Chrome, and 5 seconds against 46. It exposes a Chrome DevTools Protocol subset, so Puppeteer, Playwright, and MCP-style agent tools can drive it with existing code, and it ships macOS and Linux binaries plus Homebrew and AUR packages. Version 1.0 reports 1.7 million passing Web Platform Tests and is positioned for production automation. It is AGPL-3.0 with about 41,000 GitHub stars. It executes JavaScript but does no graphical rendering, so it replaces a full browser for crawling and agent tasks, not for visual checks or everyday browsing.
