## Best for

People whose Downloads and Desktop folders turn into a mess every week.

## Why it deserves attention

Hazel watches folders and applies rules based on name, kind, date, contents, and source, then moves, renames, tags, archives, or uploads files. Rules can be previewed against existing files, and nested conditions cover most filing jobs without scripting. It is a one-time $42 purchase from Noodlesoft with a long maintenance history. It is macOS-only and rule-based, so it will not infer intent the way newer AI file tools claim to.
