## Best for

Mac users who want SoundSource-style per-app audio control without another subscription.

## Why it deserves attention

FineTune sits in the menu bar and exposes a slider and mute for every app that is playing audio, with 2x–4x volume boost, per-app output routing, pinned apps, scroll-wheel control, keyboard shortcuts, and a 10-band EQ with presets. It also applies AutoEQ headphone correction profiles. The app is GPLv3, free, requires macOS 15, and has nearly 10,000 GitHub stars; the latest release is v1.9.0 from July 2026. It needs Screen & System Audio Recording permission and is macOS-only.
