## Best for

People who move files between several folders all day and keep reopening the same Finder windows.

## Why it deserves attention

FileOctopus shows two folders side by side or a 2×2 grid in one window, saves pane and folder layouts as named workspaces, and collects files from different places in a Shelf before copying or moving them. Compare Folders highlights what changed between two trees, and queued copies can be paused and resumed. A one-time Pro licence covers two Macs with lifetime updates, and there is a free tier plus a 14-day Pro trial. The trade-off is a smaller ecosystem than Finder extensions, Compare Folders is still marked beta, and the app requires Apple silicon and macOS 15 or later.
