CrewAI
A framework for building teams of role-playing agents that hand work to each other.

Best for
Developers who want multi-agent workflows to read like an org chart instead of a graph of prompts.
Why it deserves attention
CrewAI models an agent as a role with a goal, a backstory and a set of tools, then organises agents into a crew that runs tasks sequentially or hierarchically under a manager. Flows add deterministic orchestration around crews, so event-driven and conditional logic does not have to be squeezed into prompts. It ships with tools for search, scraping, files and code execution, integrates with most model providers and local models, and offers memory and guardrails. It is MIT-licensed with roughly 60,000 GitHub stars, plus a paid enterprise platform. The trade-off: abstraction can obscure what is actually sent to the model, debugging multi-agent runs takes practice, and costs multiply as you add teammates.
